Introduction

Movement Labs, backed by Polychain Capital and other prominent VCs, is building the MOVE Protocol, a leading L2 that aims to bring Move Virtual Machine to Ethereum.

Movement specializes in modular Move-Based Blockchains and developing solutions that enhance interoperability and performance across decentralized ecosystems.

Movement recently announced their incentivized testnet program, MoveDrop, which provides a unique opportunity for developers and users to explore the capabilities of the Move Virtual Machine Layer 2 on Ethereum and support the broader adoption of the Move programming language in exchange for rewards.

The testnet aims to battle-test the Movement network and attract users prior to the mainnet launch. As users across crypto have different skills and interests, Movement has designed different “Guilds” (outlined below) so users can use their specific skills within quests and collaborate with those who share similar interests. Eligibility and Criteria

Building the Parthenon

  • Open to everyone
  • Complete weekly guild quest lines on Movement’s Galxe
  • Engage with partner ecosystem projects to support Movement
  • Complete 10% of any guild’s tasks to earn recognition and resources from that guild
  • Join above

Guilds

Pathfinders - Leaders within the Movement Community. Welcome newcomers, answer questions, and help with onboarding new community members.

Creators - Designers, Artists, and the Memers. Decorate, craft, draw, and create the dankest of memes. Promising artists may be selected, by the sole discretion of Movement Labs, to help in upcoming NFT projects.

Scholars - The Highly Educated. Create threads, articles, and more about Move, Movement Labs, and the larger ecosystem.

Explorers - Social Media Frontliners. Tweet, join spaces, and gather friends into the Movement Community.

Masons - Builders and Developers. Deploy modules and apps, compete in coding and audit battles and teach other community members about Move and Movement’s infrastructure.

    Spartans - On-chain warriors. Complete on-chain activities.

Gmove Campaign

  • Say "gmove" on X to win trophies. Yes, really!

Timeline

The Road to Parthenon will be available until the mainnet launch.

This schedule is subject to change as the testnet progresses at the sole discretion of Movement Labs.

Token Utility

The utility of the native token, MOVE, in the Movement Rollup system is multifaceted:

  • Staking for Cross-Rollup Security: Validators stake the token to secure transactions on different rollups. Since these rollups share the same underlying security system, the token's role in staking helps ensure a consistent level of security across all interconnected chains.
  • Transaction Sequencing: MOVE tokens are used in the M1 decentralized sequencer to help order transactions across different rollups, ensuring fairness and efficiency in processing.
  • Cross-Rollup Interoperability: MOVE tokens play a role in enabling seamless interactions between rollups in the Move Arena, allowing for cross-chain transactions and shared liquidity.
  • Incentives for Validators and Sequencers: The token provides incentives for validators and sequencers who help maintain the system’s integrity across all rollups, further enhancing smooth cross-chain operations.

About Movement Labs

Movement Labs leads the development of the Movement Network, an ecosystem designed to empower developers with modular, Move-Based blockchains. Movement Labs’ innovation aims to bridge the gap between the Move and EVM ecosystems, enabling secure and high-performance blockchains. Central to its efforts is the creation of the first Move Virtual Machine Layer 2 for Ethereum, which offers open-source tools and protocols that drive the adoption of Move across diverse blockchain platforms. With Movement, developers can easily deploy Move VM rollups, advancing the capabilities of blockchain interoperability and Move-based technologies.
