About Blend

Blend is an ERC-20 token that tracks a managed basket of vetted Proof-of-Stake (PoS) assets.

Blend's return model is comprised of both price exposure of the basket’s PoS assets, as well as a yield (from the staking rewards of the basket’s underlying assets).

Key Highlights

I. Blend is an easy way to go long on vetted PoS networks. The token enables holders to go in and out of a position without traditional staking lockups and may offer tax advantages versus holding the underlying PoS tokens.

II. Blend is the first basket token offered by StakerDAO, a decentralized organization with a new approach to decentralized management of DeFi assets. StakerDAO was founded by industry veteran, Jonas Lamis, who headed Tezos Capital.

III. Blend is managed by the StakerDAO Council, which is led by seasoned crypto investors and participants Olaf Carlson-Wee (Founder of Polychain), Spencer Noon (DTC Capital), Luke Youngblood (Coinbase Custody), Shaishav Todi (Leminscap), and Jonas Lamis.

Why Blend?

  • Investment Research and Diversification: There are numerous common staking standards, which makes it quite difficult for users to run their own validating nodes. Some of these inconsistencies include (but are not limited to) the minimum number of tokens to be staked for a token holder to participate in validation, the lock-up of the asset, and price risk of the native token.
  • PoS Know-How: There is a lack of common staking standards. This complexity of becoming a validator adds to the cumbersome nature of taking part in staking, which is why many token holders end up utilizing staking as a service. However, given the nascency of these services, it is hard to discern reputable and trusted service providers.
  • Validation Complexity: After investors decide to purchase Proof-of-Stake tokens and identify particular projects, they realize there is a lack of common staking standards. This complexity of becoming a validator adds to the cumbersome nature of taking part in staking, which is why many token holders end up utilizing staking as a service. However, given the nascency of these services, it is hard to discern reputable and trusted service providers.

Return Model

The BLND Net Asset Value (NAV) is expected to track the changes in price performance of the underlying PoS assets.

Blend offers two distinct return streams via price and yield exposure

  • Price Exposure: As the price of underlying PoS assets change the BLND NAV will track the price.
  • Yield Exposure: Rewards generated by the underlying assets tracked by BLND are used to repurchase BLND and subsequently burn outstanding BLND tokens.
